Here are a few of the trends we\u2019re noticing among our clients\u2019 websites this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Less is more<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In an age when we&#8217;re busier than ever and constantly bombarded with information, websites are gravitating toward clean design that gives the visitor a moment of clarity and peace in an otherwise busy life. This has been a trend for quite a few years now, and we see no signs of this changing in the near future. Aspects of this style include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Bold, sans serif type<\/li><li>Lots of white space<\/li><li>Strong visuals that tie the page together<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Full Page Forms<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Speaking of keeping distractions out, designers know that once you get a visitor to a web form, you want them to be able to focus on that exclusively. More website designs are now utilizing full page forms as a way to cut out distractions and improve form completion rates.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery columns-1 is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\"><ul class=\"blocks-gallery-grid\"><li class=\"blocks-gallery-item\"><figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"512\" src=\"https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-id=\"3185\" data-full-url=\"https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64.jpg\" data-link=\"https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/?attachment_id=3185\" class=\"wp-image-3185\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64-300x150.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64-768x384.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.canspace.ca\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/canspace-solutions-web-design-trends-2020-64-740x370.jpg 740w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/li><\/ul><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">But more is more too<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As more and more websites are adopting the minimalist design style (hey, it works!), we <em>are<\/em> seeing a small number of sites pushing for something different to separate themselves from the pack. These sites are adopting a \u201cmore is more\u201d approach, with bold, fluorescent color scheme, and text splashed across the page.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Dark Mode<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All that white space is also beginning to get a little monotonous, so we are seeing more websites adopt the \u201cdark mode\u201d aesthetic (same as dark mode on your computer or phone) with a dark background and light text. For one, this immediately sets your site apart from most others out there. A dark background also enables designers to do some interesting stuff with visuals, because the dark background highlights tones in a completely different way than the usual white background.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Last but not least, in an age when site designers care more about accessibility, user preference enters the equation. Many sites now offer a toggle, allowing users to switch between light and dark modes. Though, designers should acknowledge the fact that this creates more work for them in terms of ensuring that every element works well in both modes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Illustrated Icons, Text, and Other Elements<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Another way to add some personality to your site and help is stand out is to add a personal touch by having some illustrated elements instead of the typical icons, which can sometimes seem a little sterile. Same goes for text\u2014handwritten text transported to your site is the antithesis of the clean, sans serif text we\u2019ve all come to love, and that\u2019s exactly the reason it can get the visitor\u2019s attention.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At CanSpace Solutions, we provide the hosting backbone that keeps your website running no matter what.
