All servers from CanSpace are powered entirely by 100% Canadian-generated green energy. Power comes directly from the Beauharnois hydroelectric generating station in Quebec that is less than 300 meters away. The data centre is also cooled directly by the hydro-dam itself, and does not require wasteful air conditioning. All of this results in a claimed Power Usage Effectiveness of less than 1.1.
Established in 2012 and powered entirely by green energy, the tier four-quality datacenter presently houses some 30,000 servers that collectively generate one terabyte of data per second, and that is growing.
