Tell us a little bit about yourself and where you are located.

I am a psychotherapist (qualifying) who offers therapy virtually. I got an interest in psychotherapy when I saw the impact that the COVID-19 pandemic was having on people, and it really challenged me to consider what I was doing as a career, and the kind of impact I wanted to have on people’s lives. I actually do psychotherapy part time, and work full time in the nuclear industry. I do live in Kincardine, Ontario, and outside of therapy, enjoy basketball, coaching my kid’s activities, and spending time with my family.

What is Frontier Therapy?

My website is our method of connecting with potential clients, and for them to get a first opportunity to learn a bit more about the therapists at Frontier Therapy (https://frontiertherapy.ca). It really is the jumping off point to start dialogue and form meaningful support relationships. It’s our opportunity to make that good first impression. Frontier Therapy’s value is to support our clients through the formation of collaborative and supportive relationships, that foster meaningful change in line with client goals. We do this virtually which provides therapy from whatever location is comfortable for the client.

Why did you get into this line of work? What’s the best thing about it?

I got into this work because I wanted to help people make meaningful changes. The best thing about it by far is when you see people meet their goals.

What does it take to be successful at what you do?

For me, being successful in therapy means offering support that is in line with a client’s needs, and helps them to see meaningful and lasting change in their lives. As a therapist, one is always learning and challenging themselves to learn new therapy approaches that will have the highest level of success given the challenges a client is facing.  It’s really a continuous journey, not a destination as no two clients are the same, so no two approaches are ever really exactly the same.
